Hi, I’m Surya, the heart and voice behind Shine With The Sun! I’m a former banking professional from India who decided to take a leap into a new life in Pittsburgh, PA, in 2015. With two little ones in tow, I joined my husband here, ready to embrace a fresh chapter.
The early days weren’t easy—adjusting to life without the support of nearby friends or family was a challenge. Yet, amidst the chaos, we found solace in exploring. Weekends became our time to step out, discover local parks, playgrounds, museums, and botanical gardens, and bond as a family.
Our first big adventure came in 2016 when we traveled to Los Angeles to visit friends and my college mates. My husband had spent a few months there in 2013, so it felt like a reunion of sorts. With two toddlers in tow, we embarked on what would become the first of many unforgettable family trips.
Since then, we’ve explored countless national parks, state parks, and cities across the U.S. These adventures have become a cornerstone of our family’s life, bringing us closer together and sparking our shared love for hiking, biking, and uncovering the beauty of the great outdoors.
While balancing a 9-to-5 job since 2019 has kept me busy, we’ve always made it a point to travel during summer holidays. Over the years, as we’ve shared our travel experiences with friends and family, many have asked for our itineraries and tips. This inspired me to start Shine With The Sun as a space to document our adventures, share helpful insights, and connect with other families who love to explore.
Shine With The Sun is my way of sharing these experiences with you. Through this blog, I aim to inspire other families to embrace travel, explore nature, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
